Ava McLeod is a high school senior and a problem solver who’s busy tackling issues much much larger than finding the perfect prom dress. She approached Stewart+Brown about a month ago asking for our participation in her senior project, a fashion show to benefit Hilltop High School, a school dedicated to the education of teen parents. Check out her blog, teenmombenefit.blogspot.com, her story in the San Francisco Chronicle’s style section or view to full story to watch her mini-documentary and get more information about the show.

In her own words:

“I want to raise money for the Hilltop School so that they can better the lives of their students. One of the greatest challenges that keeps teen mothers from graduating from high school is transportation. To increase the attendance rates, Hilltop needs funds to create a taxi voucher system that will provide transportation for their students. Many of the students come from all over San Francisco and have to take multiple buses and travel great distances. This is difficult enough, but even more challenging when you are traveling with a newborn baby in a stroller, a baby bag, and a backpack. Hilltop would like to put together a taxi voucher system and distribute a certain number of vouchers to each girl, which they can use in urgent situations.”
