Encounters at the End of the World

I recently went and saw Werner Herzog’s new documentary Encounters at the End of the World and it’s absolutely incredible. Just like he did in Grizzly Man, Herzog focuses this movie on the lives people who relish in generally uninhabitable environments. Antarctica in this case. Naturally, the documentary carries weighty environmental undertones but rather than stating the problem at hand it explores questions of humanity and what led us to this point by introducing us to this tiny community that chooses to live is such barren solitude.
