An Almost Perfect Day in Grizzly Country

Howard celebrated his birthday last month amidst hoary marmots, mountain goats, and big horn sheep on the rocky talus slopes of Glacier National Park in Montana. Every year since meeting in 1993, Karen and Howard have made it a tradition to hike in the park and even spent their honeymoon in the Glacier backcountry. Unfortunately, Karen came down with a nasty flu just before the planned celebratory excursion this summer and was not able to go hence the “almost” perfect day. Howard and his three Montana friends – Jeff, Chris, and Natasha, held their own on the 10.5 mile blister burner and had an amazing day. Plus they were lucky to see tons of big game wildlife while not having to use their bear spray. Get your nature fix for the day and check out all the pictures.

It’s the place to go for all the news on trends, labels and a basic who’s who in the fashion industry. August 1st’s cover story describes who Stewart+Brown is with a really interesting interview with Howard. The questions cut deeper and get to the nitty gritty of our ethos, what we think of “green washing” and how we measure sustainability. It’s worth a read.

Recently, the European Eco-fashion industry insiders got their first look at the brand new Spring 2009 collection at Premium Berlin. Paris, Stewart+Brown’s international ambassador, was kind enough to snap a few pics along the way with this quick update, ” …didn’t see Barak…but did see a woman wearing the open V shell in chai, also she was wearing it backwards…” Ten points to Berliners (people of Berlin – not the donuts) for thinking outside the box.
