Holidays Across the Land – Anniversary Edition
Wednesday, January 7th, 2009
It was a year ago that we started our blog and newsletter and we kicked it off with a story about what each employee did over their winter vacation. Now we’re bringing it back for 2009 with new images and a blurb about what each of us is looking forward to in 2009. Let’s start with Carol who’s little trip to Union Square in San Francisco provided us with the fine photo above. What’s Carol looking forward to in 2009? “I’m looking forward to increased environmental and social awareness across
the world, the spread of more eco-friendly lifestyles and values.”

Rose got to celebrate Miles’ first chirstmas with a hike up Matilja canyon after some opening of presents. Rose said she’s looking forward to, “watching my baby grow into a toddler, spending lots of time outdoors with him and his Daddy, and believing optimistically that the natural places we love will be protected for the future.

Acting on the advice of my Grandmother, Henry and I decided to stop by Clifton’s Cafeteria in downtown LA on our way back to Santa Barbara from Orange County. It wasn’t quite as polished as it looked in the photos from back in the good old days but it was an adventure nonetheless. In 2009, I’m looking forward to seeing what debuts in the world of science and technology and also the final Harry Potter movie!!!

Paris and company made a bunch of gingerbread houses, not to mention a mess. Paris is looking forward to “Putting the driftwood Christmas tree in the garden in February and planting sweet peas that will climb it in the spring.”

Angie also made it up to San Francisco and then frolicked as one does on their days off work. She looking forward to, “simplifying my life in 2009…starting with my wardrobe and riding my bike more often in what will hopefully be beautiful weather all year round in southern California!”

Christmas at the Stewart Brown’s played host to lots of blue-eyed babes as they took their holiday to have a play date with Rose and Miles. Karen says, “In ‘09 I am looking forward to having the Obamas in the White House, not fearing change (embracing it), and loving and being there for my happy, healthy family and community.” And Howard is, “looking forward to a renewed sense of responsibility and optimism in America and for the real Green Revolution to begin.”

When I asked Hazel, who just turned six, what she was looking forward to in 2009 she said that she’s looking forward to sleepovers at her friends house without her parents. I don’t know if she talked this over with Karen and Howard yet but we’re soon to find out.

And finally, all of us, sitting around the table enjoying a bit of Holiday lunch deliciously prepared by Florence Brown and drinks mixed and provided by Bob Brown (Howard’s Parent’s). Cheers to 2009!!
