Spring Studio Sale
Thursday, March 19th, 2009
As spring breezes in we’re gearing up to give great deals on our Spring samples and seconds. Here’s a little backgound, every season we make at least 10 sets of samples that go to press, showrooms and other events. Not all of those styles are produced so many of the items at our sale are limited to about 10 pieces and still cuter than can be. A second describes any of the products that aren’t sellable because of a small hole here or a twisted strap there. The sale will also host Betty’s Belts. Ventura-based Betty Belts will be bringing their beautiful natural jewelry, belts and bags. Owner and designer Donna von Hoesslin will bring her secret stash of samples from Bali with many one-offs as well as irregulars and closeouts deeply discounted to as much as 80% off! For the best scores, come early (this also applies to the snacks!) Here’s the info:

Juniper – Seattle, Washington
Thursday, March 19th, 2009
Shown:
Garden Tunic
Juniper in Seattle, Washington (Madrona to be exact) offers the promise of timeless looks as well as a chance to meet a new kitten. Shop owner Lisa Clinton believes that less is more and styles the shop with a hip, minimalistic touch. When asked to describe her store, Lisa says, “Juniper offers a carefully selected mix of items in the shop. Mostly clothing with a few homewares and a little jewelry. The focus is on quality over quantity and I prefer to offer fewer items to make it easy to see each piece and appreciate the fabric, design and construction. I am drawn to designers who are conscious of the whole process of their design. The beauty of design includes all aspects of it: who is making it, how it is made and the longevity both in construction and style.”

Organic Spa Cover
Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Shown:
Tissue Cotton Kimono Wrap Dress
I spy something very Stewart+Brown on the cover of Organic Spa Magazine this month. It just happens to be our lovely tissue cotton kimono wrap dress on the cover of a magazine as it so rightly deserves. This dress is incredible down to the finest detail and made entirely of our 100% organic whisper-weight cotton. The edges, waistband and hems are all accented with contrast color multi-needle stitching just like you’d see on a kimono, hence the name. Top that off with a custom all-over print and there just isn’t any reason not to be all over this style and Organic Spa agrees.
Swedish Press gets Eclectic
Thursday, March 19th, 2009
Shown:
Cashmere Button Front Vest
Stewart+Brown is becoming quite a regular sighting in Sweden’s top eco-mags and here’s an assortment of some of our most recent press. There’s a few photo montages that can’t be missed. They involve lovely ladies in our clothes placed into cartoon settings involving medical equipment and taxidermy. I think something may have been lost in translation there so read the full story to get it first hand.

Not in New York, it’s okay, we have something green for you too! New Spring styles have been coming into our e-store and that includes the armoire dress and patio dress shown above. Both of these classic dresses are made with silky smooth japanese tencel gauze and trimmed with organic cotton lace. Tencel is a renewable and biodegradable green fabric derived from eucalyptus. To make green greener, all of the tencel we use is harvested from managed forests so as to avoid deforestation and converted into a fiber using a closed loop process that makes sure that any chemicals used are recycled instead of running off into local streams. And, just when you thought it couldn’t get better, this miracle fiber is woven into its heavenly double layered decadence on antique kimono looms. Phew! Did I mention that these dresses are also really really cute?
